Osprey, Florida -- A felon on the run for the past nine months was captured in Osprey Wednesday morning.
Sarasota Sheriff's officials say they have been trying to capture Henry Morganstern on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and larceny charges after he tried to steal a $200 reciprocating saw from the Ace Hardware on Clark Road last March.
Deputies say during the attempted theft he was confronted by the manager. He then fled the store and tried to run down an employee who was writing down the tag number on his vehicle. Investigators identified Morganstern and got a warrant for his arrest in May last year.
Morganstern was arrested with the help of the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force.
The sheriff's office says Morganstern was released from Florida State Prison in August 2010 after serving seven years for trafficking methamphetamines. He was also previously convicted of carrying a concealed firearm by a convicted felon, burglary and other narcotics-related crimes.
