TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The budget chief for the Florida House wants to stick with the facts when it comes to figuring out how much the federal health care overhaul will cost Floridians.

Rep. Seth McKeel, R-Lakeland, called it critical for the integrity of the state's budget process to draw up estimates that reflect current law. McKeel made his remarks Wednesday amid criticism that Gov. Rick Scott is overstating the potential cost.

Scott this week told federal officials that taxpayers will have to pay near $26 billion over the next 10 years to implement the overhaul. The overhaul, which is also called "Obamacare," could include an expansion of the state's safety net health care program.

But Scott's figure assumes the federal government will cut back money it has promised the states for Medicaid expansion.
