St. Petersburg, Florida -- Two pedestrians were killed Thursday morning in separate traffic accidents.
The first was reported in St. Petersburg early in the morning at the intersection of 49th Street North and 48th Avenue North in Lealman.
According to police, the vehicle was traveling north in the outside lane of 49th Street, while the pedestrian was crossing 49th Street from west to east. The person failed to yield to traffic and was struck. Investigators say the pedestrian was not crossing at a crosswalk at the time.
This incident remains under investigation.
Later, a second pedestrian was hit US 41 and Nundy Avenue in Hillsborough County.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the pedestrian was crossing US 41 -- again not in a crosswalk -- when a truck traveling southbound struck and killed the pedestrian.
FHP says charges are pending in both crashes.
The names of the deceased have not been released at this time.
