St. Petersburg, Florida -- A man caught robbing a St. Pete PNC Bank Friday has been charged with two other bank robberies in Clearwater.
St. Pete Police say around 6 p.m., undercover detectives saw Wesley Fox appear to put something over his face as he entered the bank in the 3800 block of 49th Street North. After a couple of minutes, they saw him run out of the bank and get into a red Toyota Corolla parked at an apartment complex nearby.
Detectives, suspecting he had robbed the bank, blocked his escape and found a handgun and a large amount of cash in his car. Bank personnel confirmed a robbery had just taken place and Fox was arrested and charged with Armed Bank Robbery.
On Saturday, Clearwater Police detectives connected 26-year-old Fox to two other PNC Bank robberies in Clearwater. One on May 26 at the bank in the 2400 block of Gulf to Bay Boulevard and the other on June 19 at the bank in the 2500 block of Countryside Boulevard.
Fox, a transient, may face one more bank robbery charge as detectives suspect the same man from the Clearwater robberies was responsible for a PNC Bank robbery on June 8.
