PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — Attorney General Charlie Crist says if he's elected governor he would sign an abortion ban similar to South Dakota's.
The South Dakota ban only allows an abortion if it will save a woman's life.
Crist's response when a Roman Catholic priest asked whether he would sign a similar bill, "Yes, I would."
He went on to say that the South Dakota law is too restrictive.
He says he would only sign a ban if it also allowed abortions for victims of rape and incest.
Crist also says there needs to be stronger public awareness to promote adoption.
Finally, Crist says he wants to raise the number of state investigators assigned to Internet crimes against children.
Currently there are less than ten investigators. Crist wants 50.
