CARROLLWOOD, Florida - If the restaurant's name sounds familiar, there's a reason why. We first paid a visit to China Jade in March after state inspectors found 50 live roaches throughout the kitchen, triggering a 3-day emergency closure.
It wasn't the first time. Last year, inspectors documented hundreds more roaches on multiple visits all over the kitchen.
On our visit in March, we spotted a bug on the ground from the front counter. Now, nearly six months later, it appears the insect issues still exist.

In late August, the state reported the discovery of more roaches behind a Pepsi cooler, on shelves under the soup cups and lids, and even a live roach in a storage container with ingredients for the food.
We stopped in again Wednesday to try and find out what was going on. This time, however, employees pretended like we weren't even there, ignoring us for nearly 15 minutes.
Outside, though, we found customers who weren't ignoring anything. "That's just disgusting," said Tamara McClinton. "That's unacceptable. They should be ashamed to serve people that. They either need to clean it up or they need to be put out of business for good."
China Jade was also written up for illegally covering up their bright orange state closure signs back in February. When we asked today if the restaurant had a copy of their latest inspection report, no copy was provided, also a violation of state law. We asked the customers outside if China Jade would still be a lunch spot for their office?
"I'm on my way back there right now and I'm going to spread the news, that maybe we shouldn't order from there anymore," said McClinton.
Her coworker, Margie Barrera, agreed. "I would not come back. I don't think I know anyone who would."
