PolitiFact Florida checks the facts on two statements made by Mitt Romney during his speech in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, Florida - New poll numbers out Thursday show President Obama with a slight lead over presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney here in the battleground state of Florida.

Romney spent some time drumming up support in St. Petersburg last week. While here, he said some things that caught the ears of fact-checkers at PolitiFact Florida.

They teamed up with 10 News reporter Allison Kropff to put his statements to the truth-o-meter.

The first statement, there are "49 different federal job training programs that report to eight agencies." PolitiFact Florida rated this statement: MOSTLY TRUE.

Fact-checkers also looked a the statement, national debt plus unfunded liabilities equals $520,000 per household. This was rated: HALF TRUE.
