(USA TODAY) - How much would you pay to spend a day with New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow?
How about $100,000?
A couple that did not want to be identified turned in the winning bid for that amount during the live auction at Friday night's gala that kicked off the weekend for the second annual Tim Tebow Celebrity Golf Classic.
The event, held at the TPC Sawgrass Players Stadium Course, is a fundraiser for the Tim Tebow Foundation. The couple plans to share their day with the NFL QB with underprivileged children near their home in the Florida Keys.
"It was very humbling, and you don't necessarily feel worthy," Tebow said following the golf tournament on Saturday. "That day I feel like I've got to do a few extra things to be special, you know? I've got to try to be a little better."
Erik Dellenback, the executive director of Tebow's foundation, said there was some disbelief when the bid was made. The couple, which had donated to the foundation previously, expressed to Dellenback and Tebow their plans to clarify their intentions.
"They live in a part of town that has a lot of people in need and a lot of people with a lot of wealth," Dellenback added. "She felt bringing Timmy to her town down there would maybe change the town."
