Bradenton, Fla. -- Phil Jones had a vision to help athletes.
Jones used a vision training tool during the final season of his seven-year career in the Canadian Football League. That was 1986.
Now his Dynavision board is used across the country by athletes in several Division I schools as well as military bases.
"It's just mind-boggling how far this has come," Jones said.
Two years ago, IMG academies in Bradenton began using Dynavision to aid in vision training. Athletes in every sport will work on the board, including football players training for the NFL Combine.
"We've seen some great progress," IMG mental conditioning consultant David da Silva said. "Their awareness peripherally is amazing to see over time."
Dynavision is also used for rehabilitation. That has spawned it's use for athletes who have suffered concussions.
Jones' vision is taking shape.
"It's really evolved," Jones said. "The whole sports science and high-performance is all coming together."
