Osceola County - An animal control call led Osceola Sheriffs to an abused child and a meth lab bust.

When deputies arrived at the home on Kaiser Avenue, they discovered a 4-year-old girl with multiple dog bite wounds to her face, head and back. Witnesses told deputies two pit bulls attacked the child. The child was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation revealed the child's mother, Desiree Schultz did not immediately report the incident to law enforcement. Schultz was also in possession of illegal prescription drugs. Schultz was arrested and charged with Child Neglect and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Upon further investigation, deputies discovered meth-making materials outside of the home.  The homeowner, Larry McCormack, came back to the house in his pick up truck, which also had materials inside consistent with making methamphetamine and various drugs.

McCormack was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Additional Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Manufacturing of Methamphetamine and Possession of Listed Chemicals charges are pending. Schultz and McCormack were booked into the Osceola County Jail.
