The downtown Tampa Occupy protest went from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Lykes Gaslight Park on Franklin Street. Occupy Tampa has already seen multiple protests in recent weeks.
Protesters also came out for Occupy Brandenton, at McKelvey Park and 43rd Street West, which also began at 9.
St. Petersburg saw its own protest begin later in the day at 3:30, at 2nd Avenue North and Beach Drive. A "general assembly" consensus meeting was held to determine what Occupy St. Petersburg wanted to become. More protests are planned in the coming weeks, with details forthcoming.
Other area Occupy protests took place in Palm Harbor, Sarasota and Lakeland.
