North Port, Florida - A principal is reportedly under investigation for possibly breaking state licensing laws by hypnotizing students.

The Florida Department of Health and North Port Police are investigating North Port High principal George Kenney. The penalty for breaking state licensing laws carries up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.

The Sarasota School Board put Kenney on paid administrative leave May 17 after school board members learned Kenney had hypnotized students, despite district orders not to.

During the last two to three years, Kenney hypnotized students in one-on-one sessions in his office, with parental permission.

The School Board is also investigating Kenney's actions.
