Tallahassee, Florida - A special photography exhibit touring the state of Florida could literally change the lives of some children forever.

The Florida Association of Heart Galleries hosted a festive unveiling of the exhibit at the state Capitol on Tuesday.  It features the photos of foster children hoping to find adoptive homes.

Little Michael, with his shock of red hair, is one of 50 foster children included in the display.  You can really see the kids' personalities in some of the portraits.

About 200 photographers have donated their time to take the pictures.

Jesse Miller of the Heart Gallery of Tampa Bay says the effort hopes to help foster children find permanent, loving homes.

"Sometimes a Heart Gallery plants a seed of adoption and they make a very visceral connection with the photograph and it does work.  It has amazing success.  We have about 40 percent of our kids in the gallery find permanent homes by the end of the touring year."

The display at the Capitol will remain in place through June 30.

Currently, there are about 850 foster children available for adoption in Florida.
