Tampa, Florida - The 3rd annual Tampa Bay Young Women's Leadership Symposium was held Saturday at Tampa Preparatory High School at 727 West Cass Street.
More than 100 female students interacted with professional women during the event. They were paired with mentors and took part in workshop sessions. The symposium focused on leadership, diversity, inclusion, personal brand management and college and career planning.
The keynote speaker was Collins Tuohy. Her life story was written about in "The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game," which is a best selling book that was made into an Oscar award winning film starring Sandra Bullock.
Tuohy told 10 News after the event, "The most important thing that I want people to take away from my message, and I always try to include every time I speak - it's a little bit about the power of one. One person can't necessarily change the world, but you can definitely change the world for one person."
10 News Weekend Anchor Tammie Fields was honored to serve as emcee during the event.
