Rachel Wade at her sentencing hearing.
Tampa, Florida -- 10 News has learned that convicted teen killer Rachel Wade is appealing her murder conviction.
The teen love triangle case made big headlines when Wade was found guilty of stabbing her nemesis, Sarah Ludemann, in the heart after the two fought over the same boy for months.
10 News discovered that Wade's attorney filed the appeal on Friday. It has now been a month since Wade was sentenced to second degree murder after killing Ludemann in April 2009.
Wade's attorney, Jay Hebert, has maintained all along that his client did not get a fair trial and that the youngest person on the jury was 29. He says his client was not tried by a true jury of her peers.
Wade was sentenced to 27 years in prison. She will most likely get out when she's 40 years old. Her parents told 10 News Reporter Melanie Brooks that their daughter is a kind and caring person and says she never intended for this to happen.
Wade's appeal could take up to 18 months.
