Oldsmar, Florida - A 7-foot alligator gave an unwelcome surprise this morning to a school crossing guard in North Pinellas County. The large gator was near the crosswalk at Forest Lakes Elementary School on Pine Avenue in Oldsmar.
This particular reptile had been spotted in the area before but always managed to slip away before a trapper arrived.

Deputies once again called for the trapper, but the gator had other ideas and started walking toward the school.
Deputies were able to wrangle the reptile and hold him until the trapper arrived.
The animal is considered a "nuisance gator" and will be killed.
