St. Petersburg, Florida- Police arrest a St. Petersburg man, charged in the murder of his neighbor found dead in his home Sunday night.
Thomas LaFoe, 57, is charged in the murder Jeffery Norton. LaFoe apparently served as the victim's lawn man according to detectives.
"He initially made statements denying his involvement but eventually admitted his participation with the murder," said St. Petersburg Police spokesman Mike Puetz.
St. Petersburg Police say they were finally able to track the LaFoe down after learning he'd been using the victim's credit cards all over town.
In fact police say LaFoe charged up $150.00 a St. Petersburg Foot locker store, purchasing two pairs of shoes using the stolen cards.
Colleen McDonnell says she was close friends with Norton, an actor who taught at the University of South Florida and served as the theatre manager at St. Pete's Shorecrest Prep. She traveled all the way from Los Angeles just to get a glimpse of the man charged in her friend's death.
"He was the most generous, giving man I' ever met. I can't believe he's gone," said McDonnell.
Police say LaFoe admitted to using a heavy medal sword to kill Norton. The weapon has not yet been recovered.
