Lynn Colicci talks about her murdered son, Robert Brewer
Valrico, Florida -- The mother of a 26-year-old murder victim found burned to death in a Brandon area garbage dumpster is struggling to understand what happened to her son.
Hillsborough Sheriff's investigators say Robert Brewer was stabbed, beaten, then set on fire before his remains were discovered early Tuesday morning.
Brewer's mother, Lynn Colicci says her son struggled for years with drug addiction, but didn't deserve to die.
"He was so loving and so polite. No matter who met him they liked him. They couldn't help but like him," said Colicci.
Investigators believe Brewer met up with three men at the Westfield Brandon Mall trying to buy marijuana. He was invited back to a nearby apartment where investigators believe he was murdered.
Detectives say they've charged Kasey Ackerman and Brendan Terry, both 20 years old, with first degree murder. A third man, 18-year-old David Link is also charged in connection with the death.
Brewer's mother says she can't understand why the three would kill her son, especially in the way they're accused of.
"They tortured him and they said he was burned alive. He wasn't even dead when they set him on fire," yelled Colicci in tears.
"Whoever did this needs to pay for this. I hope they go to bed at night hearing his screams, and I hope they wake up hearing his screams."
