For a long time, the only option for women who have lost one or both breasts during cancer treatment was reconstructive surgery with implants.

Now, some doctors have started helping women regain their confidence through an entirely natural procedure using their own body fat from their stomach.

"The goal being we want to have a breast reconstruction composed of the patient's own natural tissue, rather than breast implants," says Dr. Jeffery Krueger of Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas.

Cancer patients who have little or no fat in their abdominal area are not good candidates for this surgery.

Unlike implants,  no additional procedures will be needed with this option.

This surgery is only for breast cancer patients who've had mastectomies.
