Update: Human remains identified as missing lotto winner
Lakeland, Florida-- News of human remains found behind a home in Hillsborough County spread quickly to Lakeland Thursday night, as friends of Abraham Shakespeare concluded the lottery winner was murdered.
"They say they found some human remains. That's common sense, you know that's him," said Donald Bradley, who would often see Shakespeare at the Super Choice Food Mart on Memorial Boulevard. Shakespeare could often be found at the store even after he won the lottery.
"It is hard to hear this news. He was a good dude man. He was a good dude," said Bradley.
Eddie Dixon, one of Shakespeare's closest friends, says he has no doubt the body discovered under a cement slab in Hillsborough belongs to Shakespeare.
"There's no doubt about it. They're saying it's him," Dixon told 10 Connects over the phone Thursday night.
Sheriff's investigators say the body found is badly decomposed. They are unsure how long it will take for the medical examiner to obtain a positive identification.
