10 Connects wins Emmys!

Orlando, Florida - 10 Connects was honored Saturday night at the 2009 Suncoast Emmy awards in Orlando with more awards than any other Bay area television station.

Chief Investigative Reporter Mike Deeson received a Silver Circle award for 25 years in the news business.  During a video clip presentation, well wishes were sent to Deeson by various people including Governor Charlie Crist, Former Tampa Mayor Dick Greco, and Deeson's wife, Laurie.

Deeson also won an Emmy for On Camera Talent - Reporting.

Reporter Preston Rudie won an Emmy for On Camera Talent - Sports. He also won an Emmy for Feature News Reporting, along with Photojournalist Gene Yagle and Florida Aquarium Spokesperson Tom Wagner.

Photojournalist Angela Clooney won for Photography in Sports. 

Clooney, along with Rudie, also won an Emmy in the category Sports News Single.

Other 10 Connects employees were also honored with Emmy nominations.

Photojournalist Kevin Carlson and former reporter Hetal Gandhi were nominated for General Assignment.

Photojournalist John Deal and Morning News Anchor Melanie Brooks were nominated for Spot News.

Local Schools Reporter Isabel Mascareñas and Chris Allen were nominated for Education/Schools.

Reporter Kathryn Bursch was nominated for Human Interest.

Deeson was nominated for Politics/Government, as well as Sports.

Rudie was also nominated for On Camera Talent - Features/Human Interest, as well as Writer - News.

Photojournalist Deal was nominated for Photographer - Sports.

Photojouralist Carlson was nominated for Photographer - Sports.
