Clearwater, Florida - This beautiful girl is Dakota, a 4 year old Lab/Alaskan Malamute mix who is going to be a great best friend and new family member. Just spend a couple of minutes with this gal, let her check you out and feel secure, then sit back and fall in love! She will grace you with gentle kisses and give you her paw on command. You will know when she is completely comfortable because she will slowly roll over and let you rub her tummy. A little game of fetch is a great ice breaker for Dakota. She also loves to play kick ball and enjoys a good game of chase, if you can keep up with her!

Her previous owner explains that Dakota loves human interaction and should be the only dog in her new home because she wants all of your attention! She is comfortable sharing her home with cats however. She knows several verbal commands including "time for bed". She is a very well mannered girl that is going to be someone very best friend.

 Pet of the Week: Josey

Josey is a gorgeous medium sized 10 year old domestic long haired cat. She is a striking cat with her brilliantly colored tortoiseshell and white coat. She is a very friendly cat but she can be amusing as well. When she is unhappy about something she lets you know by grumbling (little growly sounds). She apparently expects you to make everything right. Well, she is entering her senior years and has probably earned the right to let you know how she feels. But know that she's usually very pleasant, contended, and agreeable. Give her some affection, a nice comfy bed and a place to survey her world and she will be a happy cat.

Josey was turned in by her previous owners because they became ill. She is a de-clawed kitty. She has lived with a dog but wasn't particularly happy about it. She does get along well with the other cats that she shares her condo with here at the shelter. Her new forever home would be perfect with mature humans with predictable behavior.
