Tropical moisture is streaming into the area today, increasing our rain chances and our chances for some of that rain to be heavy at times. We are heating up this afternoon and headed to the upper 80s south of Tampa, low 90s north of Tampa.  That heat will help spark afternoon showers and storms and because of the tropical moisture moving in some of that rain will be heavy at times.

We are watching the system in the NW Caribbean where recon will go in today and we are tracking Tropical Storm Erin in the eastern Atlantic.

Thursday:  Partly sunny to mostly cloudy midday with a high near 90, and Heat index values as high as 110. Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9am along the coast, then more inland by the afternoon.  Coverage of rain is 50%-60% of the 10 News Viewing Area. S-SSW wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Tracking Invest 92-L as it moves in to the Gulf. While the Low is not expected to move over Tampa, it does help return us to a wetter, more average summer time pattern today through Friday.

Look for isolated showers/storms from morning to midday, with mostly cloudy skies. Low temperatures will be around 78 degrees, and high temperatures will be around 89 degrees. SSW winds will still be fairly light at around 5-12mph. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms pick up again and it looks to be pretty stormy for the 2nd half of the day at around a 70% coverage of rain for the area.

Saturday:  Variable clouds through the day with a high temperature of 91 degrees, and a 50% coverage of thunderstorms will be likely after 3pm.  Winds will start SSW then slowly begin to turn to a more typical summer pattern of ESE.

Sunday: Partly sunny skies with scattered showers and storms.  The tropical moisture will thin out, but we will still see afternoon showers and storms.  Rain chance is 40%, highs will top out in the low 90s and winds will be ESE 10 mph.
