Brooksville, Florida – She told deputies she'd met a friend at a bar, and then agreed to go to a motel with him.
The night ended with her allegedly stealing items from the motel room and from him, including his wedding band, a Bucs visor, an iron and a shower curtain.
Hernando County Sheriff's deputies say Misty Holmes, 21, told them she'd met up with Andrew Russell, 28, at the Connection bar on Cortez Boulevard.
The two ended up at a Days Inn on Windmere Road in Brooksville, where a clerk says the pair appeared intoxicated as they checked in around 3 a.m Sunday. Holmes told the clerk she planned to steal items from Russell once he was asleep, the clerk told deputies.
Eventually, Holmes was outside the motel room with various items that belonged to Russell, including a Bucs visor, his wedding band, photographs and his wallet. Deputies also say Holmes took items from the room itself, including a clock, a remote control, a shower curtain, an iron, pillows, sheets and towels.
"I don't know. I was drunk and upset," Holmes told deputies when questioned about the thefts, according to the incident report.
Holmes told deputies that, inside the room, Russell made "unwanted sexual advances" toward her, but deputies determined that no sexual crime was committed.
Russell told deputies he and Holmes had dated in the past. He also said he did not remember going to the motel.
All items were returned to Russell and the motel, with the exception of his wedding band and cash from his wallet, which were never found.
Holmes was arrested and charged with third-degree felony theft. A court date was set for October 21 at 9 a.m.
