CELEBRATION, Florida -- Officials have released the name of the man killed in the central Florida town of Celebration.
The body of 58-year-old Matteo P. Giovanditto was discovered Monday morning in the 500 block of Water Street by a woman who was checking on her neighbor, Osecola County sheriff's deputies said.
Detectives said the death is the first homicide in the Celebration community, a small, family-oriented community that was planned and developed by Disney in 1994.
"Everyone knows everyone. It's just a small town feel and we're very upset," a resident told our sister station WKMG Local 6 News.
Investigators said on Monday that there's no cause for neighbors in Celebration to be alarmed.
"In this neighborhood it's a rare occurrence for the Celebration community, and we are working this as an isolated incident. We don't believe there's another individual out there that would be targeting other individuals in Celebration," said Twis Lizasuain, Osceola County sheriff's spokeswoman.
