Tampa, Florida - Police in Tampa are used to dealing with some pretty unsavory characters. For cops, it's all in a day's work.  They want to put away the bad guys.

This latest case has them busy and on the look-out for a pair of criminals, they say, that have mile-long rap sheets and no respect for the law.

In fact, one of the men is so dangerous he just got out of prison, and police say he's already busy committing his next crime.

Detective Jeff McGrath sat down with 10 News to talk about these two men wanted in the city of Tampa right now.  He says, "Every day that he's out, every day he has an opportunity to commit another crime."

When you look at their mug shots, one man is scowling for his picture. The other is smiling.

They're both on the run and considered extremely dangerous.

They are Sidney Gassett and Tarrance Walton.  Police say these two are no strangers to trouble, and their crime of choice is armed burglary.

McGrath admits, "These are two violent guys and they need to be arrested as soon as possible."

Back on August 12th, the two men were ready to pull off their latest crime, Tampa Police say, a home invasion.   Cops tell us the men were armed with semi-automatic guns at the Westchester Manor Apartments.

Sidney and Tarrance parked their car and got down to business. They even brought a driver.

Neighbors say what shocked them the most about this case is the fact that this didn't happen in the middle of the night.  These guys weren't wearing masks. It was 7:00 p.m. and light outside.

The men clearly didn't care if their faces were seen.

They had guns, detectives say, and these guys were ready to use them.

Detective McGrath said, "They weren't even nervous about being seen by witnesses. It's daylight, they continue with their act."

It turns out no one was inside the apartment, so cops say the men rifled through a drawer, got some jewelry and left the scene.

So, how did these guys get away with no one seeing them?

Since there's only one way in and one way out of the apartment complex, they fit through a fence and into a parking lot, where their car was waiting, and they got away scott free.

If you watch the surveillance video closely, you can see these guys slipping right  through the fence, then running to their car and speeding away.

The biggest mistake they made? It was a Wal-Mart parking lot, and cameras are everywhere. Cops got the license plate and all the information they needed on these men. The driver was arrested shortly after the crime, but did not give police any additional information about his friends.

In the end, their fatal flaw could be the public's biggest gain.

$1,000 is on the table for anyone who turns these men in to Tampa Police.  Call Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-TIPS.
