Tampa, Florida - The Walgreens 24-Hour Pharmacy on Henderson Boulevard in South Tampa isn't known for it's late night activity.
You may find a mom here and there looking for children's cough syrup to sooth a sore throat or a young adult buying snacks.
But, what you don't see often in this neighborhood is a scruffy man looking to rob the place.
It was 3:40 a.m. on October 28th.
The man dressed in an old Devil Rays hat and black hoodie knew exactly what he was doing.
In fact, he's seen scoping out the aisles at the popular pharmacy located at 3518 Henderson Boulevard.
Detective Owen said, "He was casing it, looking hard to see who was there, who was confronting him, who he had to deal with."
Police say the man was so obsessed with getting the drug that he's seen on surveillance jumping right over the pharmacy counter.
The pharmacist was in a back room at the time, but when he came out, he saw the man standing there. Police say the guy flashed the gun tucked in his waistband.
The problem with people like this, police say, is they're unpredictable.
"You dont know how erratic they're going to act at the time or the time that they're caught," says Detective Brett Owen.
The pharmacist feared for his life and gave the suspect the drugs.
The mystery man got away with half-empty bottles of OxyContin and the powerful painkiller Dilaudid.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid 30's to mid 40's with long hair and a goatee and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweater and an old Devil Rays hat with a green bill.
If you know who this man is, please call Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-TIPS.
