6 meth traffickers with cartel ties arrested in Fort Meade

Fort Meade, Florida -- An undercover bust resulted in the arrest of six people and the recovery of about 19 pounds of meth at a Fort Meade area home on Sept. 30.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the investigation by the Central Florida HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) task force began earlier this year when detectives received information about the Gabriel Zamarripa Drug Trafficking Organization operating in Polk County. 

Investigators say the organization has ties to the Gulf Cartel, one of the more violent drug cartels operating in North America and Mexico.

After making several undercover buys of "ICE," or methamphetamine in its purest form, detectives intercepted a package intended for Gabriel Zamarripa that contained 4.5 pounds of meth.

On Sept. 30, members of the HIDTA Task Force responded to Zamarripa's address in the 1100 block of Meadow Lawn Street and seized an additional 14.5 pounds of Meth and $5,790 in U.S. currency, and made the following arrests: 

  • Gabriel Zamarripa, 47; charged with: two counts Trafficking in Meth; two counts Maintain Structure for Drug Use; one count Conspiracy to Traffic in Meth; one count Bringing Meth Into the State; two counts Possession of Paraphernalia; he has been in the Polk County Jail on five prior occasions, for Trafficking and other Meth-related charges, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Domestic Battery, and Violation of Probation. He is being held on a Nebbia hold.
  • Gabriel Zamarripa, Jr., 20, of Fort Meade; charged with: one count Possession of Meth; one count Possession of Marijuana; one count Possession of Paraphernalia; he has been in the Polk County Jail on one prior occasion, for Giving False Verification to a Secondhand Dealer.
  • Rodolfo Jalomo, 22, of Texas; charged with: one count Trafficking in Meth; one count Conspiracy to Traffic in Meth; one count Delivering Meth; one count Possession of Paraphernalia; he is being held on a Nebbia hold.
  • Elias Serrano, Jr., 22, of Fort Meade; charged with: one count Trafficking in Meth; one count Possession of Meth; two counts Possession of Paraphernalia; he has been in the Polk County Jail on six prior occasions, for Possession of Meth, Possession of Marijuana, Giving False Verification to a Secondhand Dealer, Dealing in Stolen Property, Burglary, Grand Theft, and Violation of Probation.
  • Brandy Kemp, 37, of Bartow; charged with: one count Trafficking in Meth; one count Conspiracy to Traffic in Meth; one count Unlawful Use of Two-Way Communication Devices; one count Possession of Paraphernalia; and three counts VOP; she has been in the Polk County Jail on three prior occasions, for Resisting Arrest, Trespassing, Grand Theft, and Dealing in Stolen Property.
  • Chester White, Jr., 32, of Fort Meade; charged with: one count Trafficking in Meth; one count Maintain Dwelling for Drug Use; one count Possession of Paraphernalia; six counts Grand Theft of Firearm; one count Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon; one count Possession of Forged ID; one count Dealing in Stolen Property; he has been in the Polk County Jail on 16 prior occasions (and to state prison) for Possession WITS Meth, Possession WITS Cocaine, Possession WITS Counterfeit Controlled Substance, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of Stolen Property, DWLSR, and Violation of Probation.
