Dover, Florida -- Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies have arrested the driver sought in the fatal hit and run of an elderly man walking across a Dover road Monday afternoon.
Deputies say numerous tips received from the community helped them locate the Ford Ranger sought in the accident and the owner of the vehicle, 30-year-old Ryan Pottinger, who was arrested at his home Tuesday.
Investigators say 80-year-old Santiago Sanchez-Lopez was walking east across Sydney Dover Road around 2:30 p.m. Monday when a Ford Ranger, heading south at about 50 mph, hit Sanchez-Lopez in the middle of the road. Sanchez-Lopez died at the scene.
Pottinger has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death, driving while license suspended involving death and habitual traffic offender.
