Bartow, FL -- A local probation officer was expected has been released from the Polk County jail after he was charged with allowing a known felon to handle his weapon.
On Monday, Polk Sheriff's detectives arrested charged Jorge Martir, 38, with one count of Principle in the First Degree for Possession of Weapon by Convicted Felon.
Investigators say Martir was having a relationship with a female who was under probation and assigned to him for supervision.
Martir is employed by the State of Florida as a probation officer.
Detectives say he sent hundreds of text messages, email with a nude photo of himself, and allowed the woman to handle his weapon, even though he knew she was a convicted felon and is not legally allowed to be in possession of a firearm.
Martir was booked into the Polk County Jail ad was released after posting bond.
