Dade City, Florida-- One man is behind bars and another is in the hospital after an argument stemmed from an armed burglary on Sunday night, and turned violent Monday morning.
According to Dade City Police, 23-year-old Anthony Staten and 20-year-old Jeffrey Gonzalez II were both armed with baseball bats and clubs when the brawl broke out in the Embassy Park Apartment complex around 11 a.m.
Police say Staten committed an armed burglary there the night before, and that the incident somehow "involved Gonzalez."
The fight reportedly escalated even further when Staten pulled out a gun and shot Gonzalez- who saw the gun and was trying to grab it from him.
Gonzalez was flown to Lakeland Regional Hospital, where reports say he is now recovering from gunshot wounds to his hand and leg.
Staten was also treated at a hospital, but was released and is now being charged with armed burglary from last night's incident. Police say additional charges are pending as they continue to investigate.
