Sarasota, Florida-- Sarasota Police officers say they have someone in custody after a shooting outside of a duplex Wednesday night.
According to reports, the shooting happened around 9:45 p.m. on the 2900 block of Gillespie Avenue. Officers in the area heard the shots themselves, but it wasn't long before calls came in with reports of the incident.
The first to the scene say they found a 16-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the wrist, and evidence of more gunshots on a nearby car, and duplex.
Officers say the injured teen was uncooperative, and though he doesn't leave at the duplex, he was one of several people standing outside of it when the shooting began.
Witnesses at the scene told police they saw a dark green Camry pulling away and heading towards MLK Blvd. after the incident. Sure enough, officials found the car a short time later with "fresh bullet holes in it."
Reports say they transported the driver of the Camry to the Sarasota Police Department to be interviewed.
The investigation continues. 10 News will continue with updates as they become available.
In the meantime, police encourage anyone with information to call the Sarasota Police Department Bureau of Criminal Investigations at 941-954-7070.
