Port Richey, Florida -- A Port Richey man has been charged with attempted murder after he opened fire on a man who came by his home to collect money.

Kevin Newkirk told Pasco Sheriff's deputies he went by a home in the 9100 block of Pegasus Drive around 9:40 Monday night to get money owed to him. While he was there, he got into an argument with Victor Guzman who pulled out a revolver and shot him in the stomach. He ran out of the house and Guzman followed him shooting five more times as he ran down the street.

Deputies say two other witnesses confirmed Guzman was the one who shot Newkirk. Guzman, 55, was arrested at his home around 1:30 Tuesday morning. The revolver used in the shooting was found at his home and a bullet was recovered from the scene of the shooting.
