Port Richey, Florida -- Deputies say a Pasco County funeral home director stole money that was intended to go into his clients trust funds. 44-year-old George Billingsley Morgan III now faces five charges of grand theft.
Morgan allegedly sold at least five pre-need contacts for funeral services that required money put into trust funds, but instead kept the money in his business account.
The thefts reportedly happened between 2005 and 2009 when he was funeral director of Morgan Funeral Home. Investigators say Morgan admitted to taking the money because his business was having financial difficulties.
Morgan eventually sold the business without putting the money back into the State-designated trust funds, and did not inform the new owner that money was taken.
Deputies arrested Morgan on Friday, who has since been released on bond.
