St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Petersburg Police say Jessica Sowick is a "strong suspect" in the series of Causeway Isles arsons, but on Tuesday officials admitted the 26-year-old may never be charged in the cases.

Police spokesperson Mike Puetz say arson cases are often difficult to prove since evidence is frequently destroyed in the fire and most arson fires are set at night, making eye witnesses difficult to find.

But Puetz says detectives did catch a break when he says Sowick wrote on the outside walls of a neighbor's home Friday morning.

A surveillance camera captured images of a person in the backyard of the house and Sowick has now been charged with burglary of an unoccupied home in connection with the graffiti.

Puetz says Sowick wrote comments like "Fire Starter" and "You Never Got Me" with a permanent marker on the home. But he says the tagging was significant because it provided investigators with Sowick's "graffiti signature".

"Experts will tell you these types of writings often are very distinctive, much like a signature is on a check and if we can sit down ... and match up the writing that has been placed on those walls with what we found at the crime scene of these arsons, that might be the link that establishes her involvement in these crimes," Puetz tells 10 News.

Sowick has denied any involvement in the fires and remains free on a $10,000 bond.
