Winter Haven, FL-- Police have arrested two of three Avon Park women responsible for stealing almost $1,000 worth of merchandise from a local Kmart.
According to reports, it was just before 7 p.m. last Friday when associates at the Winter Haven Kmart off of Cypress Gardens Blvd. caught 29-year-old Precious McGhee, 35-year-old Kateta Harris James and a third female placing multiple items in shopping bags and in an empty trash can from a store shelf.
Police were on scene as the trio exited the store, and McGhee was immediately taken into custody.
Officials say James fled, but was caught by a Winter Haven K-9 officer and his partner shortly after.
James was reportedly taken to Winter Haven Hospital for minor wounds to her leg, but was released and taken to the Polk County Jail.
McGhee and James were both charged with Retail Theft of more than $300, Resisting Officer without Violence and Violation of Probation.
Both McGhee and James were on probation for retail theft.
The third suspect, known only as "Pooh", ran across Cypress Gardens Blvd. and has not been located, reports say.
Police ask anyone who knows "Pooh" to contact Heartland Crime Stoppers.
"Pooh" is described as a black female, 25-30 years old, approximately 5'7" with a dark completion. She was wearing a white, long sleeved shirt, jeans and had her hair in a bun with a white hair band.
Officials encourage anyone with information on the identity of "Pooh" or this case to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a CASH reward.
