Sarasota, Florida -- A man who apparently has trouble following directions was arrested for driving away from a Sarasota courthouse, right after being told by a judge not to drive.
Sarasota Sheriff's officials say Lashay Smith was arrested for driving with a suspended or revoked license -- for the sixth time -- and appeared before a judge on contempt charges. The judge told him not to drive, but as he left the courtroom, deputies watched as he drove off in a white Mercury sedan.
Smith, 45, was immediately taken into custody.
In all, the sheriff's office says this is Smith's 50th arrest in Sarasota County for a variety of crimes, including False Imprisonment, Battery and Sale and Possession of Rock Cocaine. Half of those arrests were for Violation of Probation and Contempt of Court.
