ST. PETERSBURG, Florida -- Two men have been arrested in connection with a series of crimes in St. Petersburg.

Deputies say 23-year-old Tor Maurice Nelson and 26-year-old Raphael Williams were spotted in a 2007 Jeep Compass that was stolen during a home invasion robbery in St. Pete on Nov. 3.

Members of the Violent Crimes Task Force allegedly saw Williams go into a convenience store on 22nd Street South after leaving the vehicle. They approached the driver, Nelson, who tried to flee by ramming a sheriff's vehicle before running away on foot. He was apprehended and arrested. Williams was arrested inside the store without incident.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says the task force recovered two handguns and black bandanas.

The investigation is ongoing.
