Tampa, Florida -- Officials have announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the murder of a 38-year-old security officer.

The head of the company Michael Valentin was working for made the announcement Tuesday morning.

"We ask the community to help us take the individual off the street," Critical Intervention Services president K.C. Poulin said. "Because there is no question that if he is willing to do that to an armed, trained security officer, he has no fear of doing that to anyone else within the community."

"We do believe that members of the community have more information and we're hoping this will bring some people forward to give us any leads that may be out there," added Tampa Police Major Brian Dugan.

Valentin was murdered while on patrol at Grande Oaks Apartments in Tampa on Thanksgiving eve.

Police have only said Valentin suffered from "upper body trauma" but Poulin has told reporters the security officer was fatally shot.

Detectives say they still don't have a motive for the killing and are also asking for the public's help in identifying a man spotted on a surveillance camera riding a bike in the area where Valentin was killed.

A community event to honor Officer Valentin is planned for Wednesday at the Grande Oaks Apartments from 3 until 6 p.m. His funeral will be held Friday morning in New Tampa.

Valentin is survived by a wife and two boys ages 4 and 9.

If you have information that will help lead to an arrest in the case you are urged to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
