Fort Myers, Florida (News-Press) -- Police have not said what caused a man armed with a machete to enter the lobby at the Fort Myers Police Department headquarters.

The suspect, identified as Dejuan Anderson, 20, of Fort Myers, entered the building around 7:20 a.m. and asked for an officer by name.

Anderson then took out the weapon in front of officers.

He was initially Tased, but was able to knock away the wires.

A tense standoff ensued between Anderson and at least six officers in the lobby before he was Tased a second time and taken into custody.

Anderson is facing two counts of assault on an officer, one count of fraud and a count of resisting an officer without violence stemming from this morning's incident.

He had previously been arrested in March on a battery charge.

The police headquarters are located at 2210 Widman Way in downtown Fort Myers.
