DUNEDIN, Florida -- Pinellas County deputies are searching for three to five suspects in an early morning home invasion.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, the suspects -- all wearing dark bandanas over their faces and armed with handguns, kicked in the front door of a Dunedin home at around 5:34 a.m. Sunday.

Once inside, deputies say the suspects yelled, "Police!" The victims, seven adults who were all sleeping at the time, were ordered into the living room.

The suspects allegedly demanded a safe. One victim who showed some resistance was struck several times with a handgun and thrown against a glass door.

Deputies say the suspects made off with the safe, which contained an undetermined amount of cash along with random paperwork, a wallet, and keys.

The victim who was injured was treated by Dunedin Fire Rescue and released.

The names of the victims are not being released at this time. Deputies say the incident appears to be drug related.

Anyone with information that is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 727-582-6200; or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
