Haines City, Florida -- UPDATE: Polk County Sheriff's Office arrested three suspects yesterday in relation to the Homicide of 36-year-old Homero Arteaga. Deputies announced today that they have arrested the fourth suspect, 39-year-old Dana Wise.
Wise had a Polk County warrant for her arrest for Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, deputies say, after she and Jenny Holmes drove the other two suspects, Christopher Batchelor and John Barrett, to Arteaga's home to rob him.
Deputies report that Wise is now at the Haines City Police Department being interviewed by detectives. She will be booked into the Polk County Jail this evening.
Detectives have arrested three people and are searching for a fourth in connection with the murder of a man found dead in his home Aug. 6.
According to affidavits, 36-year-old Homero Arteaga was found by his mother when she went to check on him after she had not heard from him in a few days.
An autopsy of his body revealed he had been hit in the head numerous times by some sort of object.
With the help of the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Haines City Police arrested Christopher Batchelor, John Barrett and Jenny Holmes in connection with his death.
During interviews, the three told detectives Batchelor and Barrett went to Arteaga's home at 421 North 21st Street to rob him of any drugs and money they could find. When they got inside, they found him lying in his bed and hit him in the head with a metal pipe and ransacked the house. Each time Arteaga woke up they said they would hit him again.
When the two men left, they were driven away by Jenny Holmes and Dana Wise and ditched the pipe.
Deputies are still searching for 39-year-old Dana Wise who is wanted for Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. She is known to frequent the Wahneta area.
The three people arrested face the following charges:
Batchelor, 31, of Winter Haven, is being charged with one count each First Degree Murder, Armed Burglary, and Attempted Armed Robbery. He has been in the Polk County Jail on 13 prior occasions on charges such as Fleeing to Elude, Possession of Narcotics, DWLSR, Failure to Appear, Petit Theft, Violation of Probation.
Barrett, 45, of Winter Haven, is being charged with one count each First Degree Murder, Armed Burglary, and Attempted Armed Robbery. Barrett has an extensive criminal history in Florida, and it is listed below for your convenience.
Holmes, 25, of Bartow, is being charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. Holmes has been in the Polk County Jail on four prior occasions on charges such as Burglary, Battery, Petit Theft, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Meth.
