Clearwater, Florida -- The Clearwater Police Department has increased patrols units in the area of Clearwater High School after they received a report of a possible kidnapping attempt Monday night on school grounds.

According to police, around 10:45 p.m., a 12-year-old girl came into contact with a man near Clearwater High School after she ran away from home following an argument with her parents.

The girl told police the man pulled her into some trees near the concession area on the school grounds and made her sit on his lap. She said he then began to make sexually charged comments.

She was able to break free and run for help to a nearby witness. The man fled the scene.

The man is described as a black male in his late 30s with a light complexion and a beard. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black pants.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
