Tarpon Springs, Florida -- Police have arrested the man from the purse snatching attempt at the Tarpon Plaza shopping center Monday.
The incident happened on Monday. A woman, walking with her daughter to the Dollar General store, was pulled to the ground by the man, later identified as Daniel Tighe, while trying to steal her purse. The crime was captured by a surveillance camera inside Katz Restaurant.
On Wednesday, an anonymous source contacted Tarpon Springs Police detectives identfying 38-year-old Tighe as the suspect.
Detectives made contact with Tighe at his home on Thursday, and noticed he had recently shaved his head. In the home, they noticed a pair of white sunglasses that matched a pair the suspect was seen wearing in the surveillance video. They also found clothing that matched the ones he wore during the incident.
Tighe is charged with attempted strong armed robbery and child abuse. Police say the abuse charges are due to the fact that the crime occurred next to the 5-year-old daughter of the victim, which could have resulted in her physical or mental injury.
Tighe is being held on $15,000 bond.
