Suspect sought in Lakeland Walmart fires

Lakeland, Florida -- Lakeland authorities are searching for a juvenile suspect who may have started four small fires in the Walmart on Highway 98 North.

The Lakeland Fire Department responded to a report of multiple fires within the store on Monday, Dec. 2 at approximately 5:15 p.m. The fires were located in the front and back of the store, and they were partially extinguished by store employees before crews arrived.

After reviewing surveillance footage, investigators identified a male juvenile as the suspect. They are currently gathering more information that may lead to his arrest.

An estimated $2,000 in damages was done to the store.

No injuries were reported.

The Walmart remains open to the public, but the affected areas will remain closed to shoppers until the investigation and cleanup are concluded.
