Hernando County experienced severe weather on Monday in the form of flooding due to local heavy rainfall and meteorologists are predicting at least two to four more inches of rain will fall Tuesday.

The Hernando County Emergency Operations Center is currently monitoring the county, which means there are no plans currently for a Local State of Emergency.

The following information is known at this time:

- Sandbags are not being provided at this time but are available at local home improvement stores

- Hernando County schools are OPEN

- Hernando County remains on a FLOOD WATCH through Wednesday evening.

The following roads are CLOSED or being MONITORED:

Culbreath Rd. from Powell to Endsley
Closed - Barricaded

Powell Rd and Cedar Ln.
Signs Up - Monitoring - Passable

Citrus Way and Kensington Rd.
Signs Up - Monitoring - Passable

Minor Flooding: Lake has already overflowed the banks, no homes in danger at this time

The Southeast River Forecast Center indicates a sharp increase in river levels through Saturday at which time the river will be at "action" stage near Croom and at "minor" flood stage near Trilby.

The staff at Emergency Management will continue to monitor the weather and will provide updates as necessary. Flooding and damage to residential structures should be reported to the Emergency Operations Center at 352-754-4083.
