Tampa, Florida -- Excitement is building for the new nonstop flight as representatives from Panama visit the Tampa area.
Copa Airlines CEO and Panama's Vice Minister of Tourism are visiting the Bay area preparing for the launch of the new service.
One non stop flight to Latin America means $67 million each year to the Tampa economy and 600 jobs according to TIA Director Joe Lopano. The airline is planning to start with four flights a week in December. Right now, Copa flies to Las Vegas, Boston, Miami and Orlando.
Florida has seen two record years of tourism with about 94 million people expected to visit the Sunshine State this year.
