Sarasota, FL -- A Sarasota man is sharing his story about what it was like to be part of Diana Nyad's 45-member team on her historic swim from Cuba.
Bruce Blomgren met Nyad back in 2011 before her third attempt to make the swim without a shark cage. After two unsuccessful adventures, she recruited him to be her senior captain on board the Voyager for this latest try which turned out to be a success.
He says it was the most challenging maritime project he's taken on especially
when she couldn't eat, but Nyad drew from her innerself to make it
Blomgren says the team was made up of people from a variety of
backgrounds from shark experts to doctors to drivers.
