St. Petersburg, FL --A major medical industry overhaul is going to change how doctors chart what they know about your medical health-- your surgeries, your prescriptions and even how your doctor is reimbursed by your insurance

With just a year to go until the U.S. adopts ICD-10 medical coding, medical professionals face the Y2K switch of health care.

Right now, there's a five digit code for on your chart that your doctor puts in for insurance billing based on your type of care. In October 2014, there will be a seven alpha-numerical character system, creating 11 times the possible codes.

Doctors will also be able to share your medical information with others overseas as other countries are already using the international coding. It's also expected to create a few million jobs for coders.
