Sulphur Springs, FL-- Bay area kids are getting skills and confidence through art. Community Stepping Stones is putting them on the path to success.
The non-profit group is a learning center that helps at-risk youth the academic, social, and job-preparatory skills necessary to become successful adults.
"We help them become successful adults," Executive Director Sigrid Tidmore said. "It's an amazing feeling to see a young person come in here and not have any confidence and to gain skills to see a world opening up to them."
Teacher and mentor Lakeema Matthew was one of those young people. She says she was a trouble maker but thanks to the program, she's turned things around and got a college education. She's now giving back to the program and volunteering her time.
"I eventually hope to have my own business. I'm also a graphic designer," Matthew told 10 News. "I'm probably going to stay involved with Community Stepping Stones forever."
